You need to watch this video, then watch it again taking notes and watch it one more time! Then you can follow your note and a bit of practice and you will be mading great "Routed Hand Carved Signs". This is a fun hobby as well as a super full time or part time business. I have been making signs for over 20 years and I learned new ways to carve signs and it's easy to learn and do. My (all thumbs) neighbor ipcked it up in 3 weeks of playing around on the weekends and now is getting orders almost every day! IF you want to carve wood signs for any reason, look at this video!! Have fun and make some sawdust!!

This is a wonderful tale of 2 of Walt Disney's "nine old men". I had no idea that the two of them were as close as they were. Shot in a documentary-style, so the viewer has a sense of being their houseguest. Lifelong friends, who shared the same career, and very similar, and disimilar life experiences. This film is for anyone who truly appreciates classic animation. By the end of the film, I understood their artistic motivations, as well as their struggles and triumphs. I also got some insight into their relationship with Walt(Disney), and how his death affected them. A truly wonderful film. I own a copy, and highly recommend it.

"Frank and Ollie" is the most fasinating documentary I've ever seen. I am amazed at how they were able to get the expressions, emotions, and feelings on the characters they animated. They made faces to get the expressions of the characters, acted them out, and asked what the characters were thinking, and why were they feeling that way. This documentary kept a big smile on my face right from the beginning. I love documentaries about movies of all genres, and about the people who make them. This is no exception. It is very informative, affectionate, and heart-warming. This is a real and rare treat for serious animation buffs, or fans of Disney in general.

I had only seen the vhs version before and I really enjoyed it. Watching the DVD extras...Wow! There are some amazing pencil tests of classic Disney scenes, interviews with animators Glen Keane and Andreas Dejas on Frank and Ollie and some great old home movies of them during the Golden Age of Animation. Fantastic DVD!

Yes, it is only one episode. Yes, this seems kind of expensive for a single 22 minute video...

But it is worth it. For one thing, you get 75 minutes of really interesting extra features about the making of the episode, including an in-depth discussion of the weapons and gear they chose for the bunnies and the functionality of each item. Unfortunately, the extra features are in Japanese (with english subtitles), but whatchagonnado. I still found them fascinating.

If I understand correctly, they are using funding from this DVD and Blu-ray sale to finance production of more episodes. I want more episodes, so I want you to buy these discs. Buy a bunch of them and give them as gifts.

Ok, it would be totally worth $9.99 or something, but $30 for 21 mins?

I was totally expecting several episodes and was disappointed to be done with the entire film before the popcorn was even ready to eat. Yes, I should have realized it was short and blah blah blah. I was drunk when I ordered it (like most of my Amazon shopping).

Was it awesome? Yes! Detail is amazing. Story is cookie-cutter war movie stuff, but who cares about plot. Explosions, camel guts and bullet-time! Just as I got going it was over. I had seen the entire episode on YouTube so I'd already seen it, nothing new or longer. :/

I'll chalk this up to "pay attention when you order" and "at least I am supporting the creators and now they have money to make more episodes which I'll probably break down and buy then bitch and moan about the price-per-min in a review"

I keep going between 2 stars and 5. The video is 5 stars, the price is 2 stars. I'll call it a 4

It's FINALLY here--the original solicitation said it would be out before the end of 2010, but it was worth the wait. If you're not sure about it, and these reviews aren't enough, check out the edited You-Tube version up for only a limited-time. If you like what you see, go for it. The uncut definitely adds to the experience, and the extras are great. It's pricey, I know...$30 for 22 minutes is alot (ore $20 for the DVD), but this is being put out by the production company as a way to get revenue to fund the other 12 episodes of the series. The original manga was great (released by ADV Manga, now out of print), and the continuation of their combat is fantastic. I just can't figure out how these guys are supposed to still be in active duty...I mean, the original series was Vietnam...

this is frickin' impressive. I saw the YouTube version and it was unreal. I will never look at bunnies the same way again. The attention to detail (watched it in HD) was superb.

What does the universe look like at the scale of atoms, or that of galaxy superclusters? What did the early universe look like, and how did it evolve into the cosmos we know today? What other life may have evolved and be wondering about our universe as we do?

These are deep questions, and no short film can possibly do them all complete justice. Instead, in its 35 minutes, Cosmic Voyage flies through a summary of what we know--just enough to whet your appetite for more.

Starting in Galileo's Venice, with familiar everyday scales of time and space, the IMAX film employs a common technique: expanding our perspective by successive factors of 10, until the screen encompasses the largest structures scientists know of today, and our own Earth is utterly lost in the deep expanse. A similar voyage takes us from the waterways of the Netherlands down into the nucleus of the atom, where (somewhat paradoxically) our knowledge comes from some of the largest experiments in the world.

The simulation of the early universe and the numerous galactic collisions is especially awe-inspiring. Usually, documentaries of this sort employ artists to bring the words of astrophysics journals to life; Cosmic Voyage was the first movie to make use of scientific computing and cosmic simulations on such a large scale. The sequence was computed under the direction of the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), which also had an early hand in popularizing the World Wide Web. The result is an accurate and breathtaking depiction of how the oldest and largest parts of cosmic architecture took shape.

The temptation with any such documentary is to compare it to Cosmos, the PBS documentary hosted by Carl Sagan that ran in 1980. But the comparison is unfair. Sagan had 13 hour-long episodes, with a sweep at once broader and deeper than anything since. With only 5 percent of the length, Cosmis Voyage can't expect to duplicate that sweep, and to its credit, it doesn't try. It just stuns you with its imagery and inspires you to find out more, and it does so without straying from scientific accuracy. Provided you keep in mind the length and scope of the film, you won't be disappointed.

I have used this DVD for the past several years in my science classes. After introducing my students to the metric system, and doing labs to reinforce this new concept, I show COSMIC VOYAGE as a culmination to the metric system, and as an introduction to the Astronomy Unit. The metric system is based on Powers of Ten. The scene that starts in Venice and expands outward into space by powers of ten is effective for my students. Conversely, to watch a water droplet and decrease by powers of ten is also important for students to see. After watching this, my students are jazzed and can't wait to learn about the universe. At the end of the school year, many cite COSMIC VOYAGE as one of their favorite DVD's and the Astronomy Unit as one of their favorite units.

I've bought several Imax DVDs over the last year, and I've found all of them impressive. This one is no different in the impression department, but I felt that the overall tone of the video was directed much more towards education than the previous videos. The text or the narration (performed wonderfully by Morgan Freeman) sounds like it was written for one of those old videos we were forced to watch in science class as kids. While I always found those videos to be so poorly produced they became boring this film has such amazing video that you become engrossed in the movie, even with the educational tone. I would have given it 4 stars because of the educational feel, but after thinking about it for a few minutes, I decided that it still deserved 5. If you have children, I doubt you could find a better movie to inspire them with science. If I were a science teacher today, I'd start the term with this video to motivate students who might otherwise shy away from sceince.

This DVD version of the IMAX film, "Cosmic Voyage," will dazzle the eyes with it's incrediable pictures of outer space, micro sized atoms, and digital photography. Morgan Freeman narrates with his lovely, deep voice and keeps the film's slow pace at a more interesting flow. The music is also enchanting and helps it be a smoother ride. I never saw this at the IMAX theatre, but at school on a projecter about 10x smaller than the IMAX. But, nevertheless, it still captivated me and took me far, far away. Cosmic Voyage doesn't delve deep into Astronomical findings or anything excitingly new, but it does give us information that we see everyday and puts a spotlight on itmaking our world ever more visible than we imagined.

The British have made war and historical movies with an unrivaled consistency of quality, and Sink the Bismarck is no exception. The details are meticulous, the casting first-rate (except for a hokey voice-impersonation of Churchill), and the battle sequences marked by accuracy and fine special effects.

This otherwise fine film is marred, however, by the false depiction of one of the major characters, Admiral Lutjens, commander of the Bismarck. In the film, he is stereotyped as the typical Nazi a Hitler sycophant, careerist and wild-eyed fanatic. This was most certainly not the historical Lutjens, who was by no means a Nazi fanatic. Lutjens was a naval hero from World War I, who served out of duty and dedication, not Nazi conviction. (Lutjens protected Jews under his command, and members of his family were in trouble for their anti-Nazi views.) This is at complete odds with his depiction in Sink the Bismarck, which I find inexcusable, given that the above information was certainly available to the production. In fact, an accurate depiction of Lutjens would have, in my opinion, added interest to the plot.

Nevertheless, Sink the Bismarck is eminently watchable and a fine addition to any war movie collection, if you bear in mind the above caveat.

I'm not entirely sure why I like this movie so very much, but I have loved it from the very first time I saw it more than 20 years ago and still watch it often. It is a dramatization of the true story of the short-lived first cruise of the German battleship "Bismarck", of the destruction it wrought and of the hunt to find and ultimately destroy it. Yes, there are some inaccuracies in the details of which ships took part in the hunt, as well as in the portrayal of German Admiral Gunther Lutjens, but the fact that this is a British movie, made while the scars of war were still a strongly living memory, should be borne in mind in this regard.

Among the things that make it worth viewing are: the presence of Edward R. Morrow recreating the atmosphere of his wartime London radio reports, the recreation of the Naval command center underneath the Admiralty building and the highly believable performance of Kenneth More (himself a wartime naval officer) as the deeply wounded Captain Shepherd. Dana Wynter also gives a delicately nuanced performance as Second Officer Anne Davis. The moment when she enters Shepherd's office and realizes that he is crying is beautifully done.

The highly restrained romantic undercurrent doesn't interfere with the main story line and is very believable for wartime professionals. One comes away from this movie knowing that a great menace to the eventual survival of Britain has been eliminated and that there may be hope for both the UK and for two lonely people.

The inclusion in the new DVD of some newreel footage of the actual event is a nice little bonus. The subject of the hunt for and destruction of the "Bismarck" has also recently been the subject of some recent documentaries. The story retains its impact, even after more than 60 years.

I watched an advance review copy of this DVD tonight and really enjoyed it. In addition to the movie, the DVD features not only the trailer for the main feature, but also a vintage 1941 MovieTone newsreel of the real battle to sink the Bismark and trailers for the other movies in the upcoming spate of "Fox War Classics" ("The Blue Max", "The Enemy Below", "Heaven Knows Mr. Allison", "The Desert Fox" and "13 Rue Madeleine."

Based on a book of the same name, which was in turn based on the real incidents in World War 2, the movie "Sink the Bismarck" retells the tale of the dogged effort by the British Royal Navy to track down and attempt to destroy the German battle cruiser Bismarck.

Much of the movie takes place at the Admiralty in London where the superb British actor Kenneth Moore surveys the ships as would a chess player on a large board, in an attempt to second guess and outmaneuver the German vessel.

The DVD is in fine shape and I did not notice any artifacts or nicks. Considering the age of the picture it is surprising that it should be so well prsented here, so full marks must go to 20th Century Fox. I have seen this movie before on television and I do not believe I have ever seen it looking as crisp and focused as it does on this DVD.

Altogether, this is easy to recommend especially considering the low price.

p.s. Viewers in the United States should also seek out, and watch, the superb 2-hour History Channel documentary of the same name. It would make an excellent companion-piece to this movie if the producers should decide to release it as a DVD.

Sink the Bismarck is the story of the tremendous effort expended by Great Britain to locate and sink one ship in May 1941. The all out effort to find this ship and sink it is well dramatised as are the two battles which Bismarck and the Royal Navy fought. Kenneth More is excellent as the Captain in charge of coordinating the efforts to locate the German ship. I suspect More was able to model his charecter on people whom he had met during his own service in the Royal Navy during World War II. His manerisms are exactly suited to the role he plays. Overall a well done film that does justice to the historical events of May 1941. For a movie made in 1960, it has aged gracefully.

This fine film, made in 1960, does a fine job of re-creating the events surrounding the search for and eventual destruction of the pride of the German navy: the Bismarck. Veteran British actor Kenneth More stars as Captain Jonathan Shepard, a new officer who gets placed in charge of the hunt for the Bismarck in Britain's Naval Operations center. Shepard has a personal stake in seeing the Bismarck sunk. Bismarck's commander, Admiral Gunter Lutjens, played by Karel Stepanek, sunk Shepard's vessel earlier in the war. Dana Wynter stars as 2nd officer Anne Davis, an assistant to Capt. Shepard. A fictional implied but never shown romance develops between Shepard and Davis throughout the course of the film. Carl Mohner stars as Bismarck's Captain Lindemann.

The battle scenes are excellent. One must remember when viewing this film that the special effects are from the 1960's, but that does nothing to detract from the excitement of the ship-to-ship combat scenes. The fight between the HMS Hood and Bismarck is the high point of the film. It was exciting to see the ships being straddled by the other's shells, and seeing the Hood blow up was especially thrilling.

The historical correctness of the film was excellent except for a few minor details. For example, during the attack on the Bismarck by the British Swordfish torpedo planes, the movie shows two being destroyed when in reality none were lost. Also, the movie depicts a British destroyer being sunk by Bismarck. This is also incorrect as the Hood was the only British loss. Finally, the movie depicts Admiral Lutjens as being a staunt supporter of the Nazi party. This is also false. Lutjens was against Naziism, and refused to give the Nazi salute, instead preferring to use the old German navy salute. The movie also depicted a rather close relationship between Lutjens and Lindemann. This was also not the case. In reality, the two German commanders disagreed on many topics, and at one point during the heat of battle, Lindemann said to Lutjens that he refused to sit by while his ship was shot out from underneath him. Aside from these points, the historical aspect of the movie is very well done.

I highly recommend this film. The acting is excellent and the battle scenes will keep you on the edge of your seat. Watch this great movie and experience the hunt for the most feared ship in the German navy.

Oscar (Smith) the fish leads a normal life. He is just an average guy working at the Whale Wash. One day, he wanders into shark territory and is chased by Frankie. Unfortunately for Frankie, the chase ends in his death, not at Oscar's hands, but by pure accident. Oscar sees as an opportunity to "be someone", and quickly takes the credit. The fish world begins to call him the "Shark Slayer", two female fish begin to show their interest, and the shark godfather (DeNiro) makes it his business to find the murderer of Frankie...his son.

"Shark Tale" is yet another animated movie that will appeal to both children and adults. The difference is, this time it almost seems made for adults first and kids second. The most obvious references are to "The Godfather" and "Goodfellas", two movies that no kids should have seen. Also, advertising placement has run amok in this movie. Every way you turn in the city, there are obvious "fake ads" for real products that is very distracting. Most everything in this movie is overkill, in fact.

The voice talents are credible and the animation is good, although I found Oscar to look kind of creepy with his near human-looking face. "Shark Tale" also is nothing like "Finding Nemo", which is both good and bad. Good, because it is not retreading material that is not too old yet. Bad, because "Finding Nemo" was so much better. "Shark Tale" is a decent movie that will be enjoyed by most, and I did laugh a number of times while viewing it, but my advice is to wait for DVD.

DreamWorks Shark Tale is a one-dimensional film from the shallow end of the CGI animation pool. The usual Shrek-formula mix of contemporary cartoon characters, celebrity voices, and pop culture references come together in a marginally entertaining movie with no bite. Finding Nemo blows this out of the water.

The movie opens with the reef (reminiscent of Times Square) under siege by sharks (Mob types) Oscar, a fish working at the Whale wash (a derivative of the car wash from Blaxploitation classic "Car Wash")dreams of hitting it big and being a big fish. But he's lazy, irresponsible and constantly late for work. His co-worker has to punch him in and cover for him. He owes his boss five thousand clams. He gets the money but decides to bet it on a long shot at the seahorses. Meanwhile, A group of mob sharks (symbolic) are trying to get the son of the Don to "shark up" and eat a fish. They discover Oscar soon after his torture at the hands of jellyfish. A freak accident leads up to the death of one of the sharks and Oscar gets the rep of the "Shark slayer" (I find it odd there's a Mafia in the reef but no police counterpart. A sign of how poorly written this script is.)

In the aftermath there's a boatload of media frenzy; Oscar is a superstar living in a penthouse. But he finds it lonely at the top. He longs for more. His house of cards starts to fall when the sensitive shark comes to Oscar for help. They stage a fight and Oscar pretends to kill him. Later, he helps him find cover as a dolphin. Oscar's girlfriend is kidnapped after his boss picks a fight with the sharks. Oscar and the sensitive shark go to face off with the sharks inside the Titanic. After an antic climatic confrontation, Oscar and the shark confess, and all is forgiven within the reef. In the End Oscar gets his girl, is promoted in his Whale wash job as a partner in the business. ????? Lie, cheat, kill, and still get rewarded in the end because you tell the truth. That's kind of a mixed message to send to kids DreamWorks.

Shark Tale sinks as a movie due to its shallow screenplay. The excessive uses of pop culture references aren't clever here like they are in the Shrek movies. Instead they cover up a weak story with little depth and substance. What's sad is these pop culture references reinforce the worst stereotypes about minorities, women and ethinic groups. Even with a multi-ethnic cast, the entire animated feature comes off like a computer generated blaxploitation film. I wish the writers of Shark Tale had given the characters some of the complexity of their Pixar counterparts from Finding Nemo. The struggles of Nemo and his dad stayed with me long after the movie ended. On top of it, the sharks in that movie were so evil it was scary.

The animation here is well-Meh. Compared to the beautiful 3-D CGI work Pixar did on Finding Nemo Shark Tale's computer animation falls flat. While the art design is very colorful, it lacks depth and dimension. Character movements look and feel artificial; the facial expressions are way too over exaggerated. The reef backgrounds looks and feels about as realistic as a painting or a drawing used in TV 2-D animation; this is far below the standard set in DreamWorks' Shrek movies. I dare to say the hand-drawn animation and backgrounds in DreamWorks early 2-D animated features The Prince of Egypt, Road to El Dorado and Sinbad were richer and more detailed than the ones used in this movie.

Despite the all celebrities the voice over work in this one falls flat. Will Smith just does his Fresh Prince bit here like he does in all his movies. He comes off just like his sitcom character from that stale 90's sitcom. Renee Zellwegger is good as Oscar's best friend and love interest. Jack Black is decent as the sensitive shark. Doug E. Doug is flat as one of the jellyfish. Robert De Nero and Martin Scorsese, and Angelina Jolie, phone it in. Katie Couric has actually done better work on the CBS Evening news.

Pass this toothless Shark tale by. Head to the deep end of the video rack and Pick up Pixar's Finding Nemo. Or get The Incredibles, Toy Story or Toy Story 2. If you want a DreamWorks Movie get The Prince Of Egypt, the Shrek Series. If you have older kids get Road To El Dorado.

I can't even rationalize giving it 1 star because that implies it got 1/5 of "something" while I can't see that it did anything right, except set up a lucrative platform to launch millions of "fanfare" junk to market to kids i.e. numerous video games, coloring books, clothing, pc software, and soundtracks all appear when typing in Shark Tale on amazon's search.

After watching it with my significant other, we pondered off and on for about 24 hours trying desperately to think of a worse movie that we have seen. Still none have come to mind.

This movie plays off of every stereotype I can think of. The "cool" black guy who raps and dances, the white guy that can't dance or doesn't know any cool hand shakes, the jamaicans that are dumb, the italians that are mobsters, the white chick that is meek....and finally the unintended, me, the viewer that wants to puke. If my kids were subjected to this I would have a lot of explaining to do to dispell all the stereotypes that are maximized in this movie, ok that trivializes what my role of a parent would be if they were subjected to this...if I had taken any kid to see this movie I would have left early, which isn't an easy task with kids.

This movie shamelessly plugged so many consumer products I felt like I was sitting through one big commercial, Gup instead of Gap, Guppy Kremes instead of Kristpy Kremes, Coral Cola instead of Coka Cola to name a few mock products which are obvious advertisements for the real product due to the likeness in trademarks. Way to target that young market, corporate whores!

Also the moral of ths story seemed to be if you screw up about a hundred times, some chick will help you out, then you can screw over that chick about a hundred times, lie to the entire community, and in the end everyone will like you any way and the chick will come back to you if you buy her balloons. EXCELLENT MESSAGE FOR ALL!!

I agree with those saying this is like a Rap Video set under the sea (in a fantasy world) and starring badly animated fish.

The animation is pretty bad, especially after seeing Pixar films like 'Finding Nemo' or 'The Incredibles' where it's top notch.

There's no story to speak of. It's all so forgettable. It's riddled with every stereotype and cliche you can think of. I can't even imagine what the execs at DreamWorks were thinking when they greenlighted this thing.

The WORST Animated movie ever made. I sat thru this boring, shallow story hoping it would get better and it just got worse. Bad music, bad story, bad voice talent, over payed voice talent.

The low point of this movie was when CGI fish versions of Missy Eliot and that other chick sang car wash. Hey, it was a WHALE WASH not a car wash.

AVOID this movie. Watch a Pixar movie over and have alot better time. I can't beleive this came from the makers of Shrek which I loved.

Best Turbo, A Hero's Hero Deals

I've been following the Unpicked1 across youtube ever since 2009 and I have to say that I love his work surrounding his character, Turbo. Wayne Wilson is a World War 2 veteran was given a chance to walk again after he suffered a serious accident years ago which involved his transformation into the robotic superhero known as Turbo. A tryrannical being formed out of the same material Turbo is made of (gloport) called Ramsies who planned on enslaving humans under brutal hardships, was defeated by Turbo after the death of his wife, Lacy Wilson. The shorts on the dvd take place around 20 years later and we see Turbo coming face to face with Ramies' son, Hazar who plans on killing him. It's a character study of Abraham Lincoln, Optimus Prime, and Superman combined in a blender. Turbo longs for nothing more than to find his place in society as well as wanting nothing more than to be with his wife in the afterlife and to keep all of humanity safe from enduring more harm than the Earth itself can endure. The concept is engaging (as long as you also know the history of the character on riddlecomics.com) and the music, maya animation, and voice acting all done by James Daniel Riddle himself are all superb. The dvd features the only 2 short films (or episodes) of Turbo ever created so far, early animations, and other exclusives not seen on youtube. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for awsome rare superhero material with deep spiritual insight. One day Mr. Riddle wants to make a feature length film based on Turbo, and I just pray for and support him all the way in his quest.

Oh and on a reminder in case any confusion becomes abrupt, Turbo's powers include indestructability, he can lift objects that are beyond his size, he can fly, he has enhanced hearing and increased sight, and he has boots that gives him the ability to walk or stand on air or in the middle of space.
